Sonia and Eric’s Nikah

On Saturday June 30, we had a small gathering to conduct Sonia and Eric’s Nikah.  We rented the community room at Mona and Arif’s apartment building in Tribeca, which provided a wonderfully modern, NYC style backdrop for the event.  Food was delivered by Ali Baba, flowers by Bloom and Style, and of course we had help from all family members!  Daisy Khan of Asma Society (www.asmasociety.org) conducted the ceremony, and it was simply graceful and special.  She mentioned Shahid and Imam Feisal’s long-time friendship, and my friendship and work with her which made her being there so nice.   It was great to share this special moment in our family history with close family and friends. Eric’s family from Oregon was all here, and we loved meeting them.  The night before, the young couple had taken out both families to an Italian restaurant, Supper, in Lower East Side, which was a lot of fun too, even though the heat was at its peak in this unusually high summer heat at the end of June.  We wish the young couple the best in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and their spiritual journeys too!
